1. Has part of this book inspired you in any way? If so, how and can you give a specific example from the book that exemplifies this inspiration?

This book has inspired me a lot because her faster parents put her down called her name tolled her she was nothing, because she didn't have her parents.I know how she feels because even thought i had a mom i always wanted my dad in my life but he just walked out on us.

2. Did this book change your life in any specific way, or perhaps, cause you to think differently about certain issues? If so, what and how?

It made me think that even though she has a messed up life so far in the book she ended up making something of her life she taught me that's if she can do it so could I.

3. What do you think Cupcake's motivation was for writing this novel? What do you think she believes her readers will get out of hearing her story? Is she trying to reveal something, or just telling her life story?

I think she just wants people to know that it doesn't matter where you live, where you come from, if you have parents or not you could be successful in life.

Manifest Destiny and Ethnocentrism

1. Why can we say that there was cultural diversity in the Americas even before whites arrived?
there was a lot of cultural diversity because before the whites there was different tribes in the Americas.

2. Give two examples of how the Native Americans and the Europeans experienced acculturation.
the natives showed the Europeans how to survive in the new land and the Europeans showed the native Americans guns and they broth horses and metal.

3. Describe how Native Americans and Europeans had different ways of looking at how the land should be used and shared.
the native Americans thought that you should be the land and everyone can us it. the whites thought u should own the land.

4. Explain why the idea of Manifest Destiny is an example of ethnocentrism.
the whites thought they should live by manifest destiny they said that god tolled them that was there land. the Europeans thought they were Superior the the native Americans.

if he would of been successful there would of been lots of more trivesin America and not so many Christians.

i would teach them that the kumeyaay made all there stuff from thing around them and they survive they dint have malls or cars.

Characterization


  • Dot would be consider a subordinate character in this chapter because she didn't last long in the book. Dot thought she knew how to steal by her self, and she got cocky and went on her own but she got caught.

  • cupcake can be consider a dynamic charecter because she has develope from a young girl to a grown women.
